COUNTY NEWSLETTER

No. 27 October 2011

PRESIDENT`S FORWARD

Dear Fellow Bowlers

I would like to welcome you to the start of the indoor bowling season, and hope to meet as many of you as possible during the year.

We start the season with a full complement of Officers and I know I shall have their full support during my year as President.

I would like to welcome Wendy Borer from Mote Park to the Committee as Junior Vice President: her knowledge and experience of bowls will enhance our team.

Ladies please support the KCLIBA games, you will find them good fun and a chance to meet bowlers from all around the County.  Last season Carol Smith, our Fixtures Secretary, had an extremely difficult time to get teams together and for the first time in many years she had to drop a rink because we could not find the necessary players.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the ladies who stepped in at the last moment to help us out.

My thanks also to all the ladies who supported the KCLIBA games over the season.

My thanks also to Carol, who beavers away behind the scenes arranging our fixtures and keeping all the records, which means that the season runs smoothly.

I wish you all a good season`s bowling and the good health to enjoy it.

Pat Arnott

Our first game will be against Oxford and will be held at Egham IBC on Saturday 20 November commencing at 10.am.  All subsequent matches will be away this season and so coaches will be a heavy burden on our finances.

SPONSORSHIP

Violet Aldridge, Last Year`s President, is taking over this job from Sue Swan and is seeking new companies who would be willing to sponsor/donate to our games.  Our thanks go to Blue Fin and Bon Marche` who sponsored/donated to our games last year.

We are trying a new form of sponsorship called “Friends of KCLIBA”.  Forms are available which enable you to make a donation to the County and thereby become a “Friend”.  You will receive a copy of the President`s Newsletter and your donation will be much appreciated.

If you would like one of these forms, please contact me or any Committee Member.

Player of the year was Carol Smith.  This award was instigated by Irene Godfrey when Kent President.  It was intended as  recognition of not only good bowling but for anyone who had overcome a personal difficulty, or returned to bowling after an illness.
