There was a lovely atmosphere all day at the President Trophy, held at Swale IBC on 14th March 2020. It was the first time for this competition for the county.

Ten teams took part in this first competition and was played in a round robin format.

It was divided into two groups, so each team played four games.

Teams got 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. If points were even after all the games, it went on number of ends won then points for then points against.

I wish to thank Swale IBC for a warm and friendly welcome and for the use of the club. Also, a big thanks to their Caterers for putting on lovely selection of hot food at lunch time, and very good buffet at the end of the day. Thank you to the Officers that help to run the competition and to Maddie McConomy for umpiring all day.

After four round the competition was getting very close and exciting, as there were five teams in contention in winning. Sevenoaks need to win their last game to win, they started off very well with a good lead, however, Mote Park managed to scrap a win in the last two ends. White Oak also need to win their last game to get even points to also be in the running but lost to a Prince Arthur B team. Royal Tunbridge Well who also need to win their game managed to get a result.

Swale A team and Royal Tunbridge Wells ended up on 9 points, however, Swale won two more ends than the Royals.

Both Sevenoaks and Swale B team had 7 points and 15 ends each, Sevenoaks got the third place as they got 4 shots more than Swale B.

Congratulations to all clubs that took part and well done to those that won. I hope you all enjoyed the day.

If you enjoyed the day, please let us know if you would like to do it again. If this competition is popular and continues, we shall be looking to have a Trophy with winner’s names engraved.
